Richard and Orville began their careers with accounting degrees from the University of Tulsa. After working in the energy, finance, and manufacturing sectors, they co-founded NOCO Investment Company in 1975 and formed the Nichols Petroleum Company in 1979 with a drilling program that began primarily in Oklahoma, Texas, and Montana. Since then, the brothers have acquired operated and non-operated wells extending into Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Colorado, Kansas, and California. With numerous investments over the years in energy marketing, trading and transportation, technology, and real estate, the Nichols formed the holding company Nichols Brothers, Inc. as the face of all their businesses.

Phil Burch

Vice President & CFO

Phil specializes in value investment opportunities. He has broad experience in distressed company management, debtor in possession financing, and restructuring. He has proven highly successful in high-risk situations and workouts. Phil is the former VP and treasurer of Key Energy Services and was the treasurer of the operating subsidiaries of Parker Drilling Company. He has served and chaired numerous unsecured creditors’ committees in energy company Chapter 11 Bankruptcy proceedings, including testifying as an expert witness. Phil has an MBA in Finance from the University of Utah and holds a Mechanical Engineering Degree from Oklahoma State University. Phil is President of Financial Executives International (FEI), Tulsa Chapter and is the Board Chairman of OASIS Adult Day Services.

Hayden Ryan

Hayden Ryan

Director, Mergers and Acquisitions

Hayden joined Nichols Brothers, Inc. in 2011 and brings with him over 10 years of varied experience in mergers and acquisitions, finance, business development, team management, venture investing, and technology and design engineering. Hayden is the former Planning & Development Manager at PennWell Corporation and is a former Associate of Oklahoma Equity Partners. Hayden received his MBA from the University of Oklahoma and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Colorado. Hayden is the President of the Board of Ability Resources.
